Note: "Crocodile", Soviet satirical magazine. Leaves in Moscow with 1922 as the weekly supplement to "The working newspaper", with 1932 — in Pravda publishing house 3 times a month. The party publicist and the satirist K. S. Yeremeyev was the organizer and the first editor of the magazine. To participation in "To". D. Bedny, V. Mayakovsky, V. Katayev, M. Koltsov, I. Ilf, E. Petrov and many other prominent Soviet writers, artists D. Moor, V. Denis, K. Rotov, B. Yefimov, Yu. Ganf, etc. were attracted. The weapon of satire and humour "To". fights against the negative phenomena alien to the Soviet reality, exposes bourgeois ideology, imperialistic reaction. Played a big role in the statement of the principles of the Soviet satire, in formation of multinational Soviet satirical journalism. Tasks "To". are formulated in resolutions of the Central Committee of All-Union Communist Party (bolsheviks) "About the Krokodil magazine" (1948) and "About shortcomings of the Krokodil magazine and measures of its improvement" (1951). Circulation (1973) 5.5 million copies. In 1972 the magazine is awarded the order the Labour Red Banner.
