Note: The son of the fatherland - the Russian magazine of the XIX century; left in St. Petersburg from 1812 to 1852 (with breaks) and had impact on development of social thought and the movement of literary life in Russia. With the same name there was a magazine from 1856 to 1861 and the newspaper from 1862 to 1901. Originally "The son of the fatherland" was the magazine historical and political, however in it also works of art, mainly poetic and mainly on the hot political and military topics (connected with Patriotic war of 1812) were located. Illustrations (A. G. Venetsianova, I. I. Terebenyova), generally caricatures were an innovation. In 1814 there was a constant literary department including works of art, criticism, the bibliography.
