In 1887 according to the offer of the Petersburg archaeological institute in Orenburg the local scientific archival commission was created. In 30 years of the existence she carried out some work on concentration and streamlining of archival materials and their studying. Since 1907 the scientific archival commission, except materials of the Orenburg governor general, started concentrating documentary materials of the Orenburg provincial and spiritual boards, the Orenburg district police department and other establishments.
